The Department of Forests and Park Services (DoFPS) under the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (MoENR) conducted a two-day national stakeholder consultation workshop on a forest carbon crediting proposal developed under the ART-TREES High Forest Low Deforestation (HFLD) Crediting Approach at Norkhil Boutique Hotel & Spa, Thimphu, on 29\u201330 December 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The workshop was graced by the Hon\u2019ble Secretary of MoENR, Hon\u2019ble Members of Parliament, and Heads of Departments, underscoring the strong commitment of the Royal Government of Bhutan to advancing forest carbon initiatives and sustainable forest management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The consultation brought together representatives from key government agencies, local governments, civil society organizations, and development and conservation partners, including UNDP, FAO, and WWF. The broad participation facilitated informed dialogue and inclusive engagement on Bhutan\u2019s forest carbon crediting efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Organized by the Forest Monitoring and Information Division, DoFPS, the workshop provided a platform to review the technical requirements, governance arrangements, and social and environmental safeguards under the ART-TREES framework. It also aimed to enhance stakeholders\u2019 understanding of safeguard requirements and the alignment of Bhutan\u2019s REDD+ actions with national policies, legislations, and regulations, as well as relevant international conventions, agreements, and treaties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The stakeholder consultation workshop marked an important step in strengthening transparency, inclusiveness, and technical robustness in Bhutan\u2019s pursuit of market-based approaches to mobilize climate finance for reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation, promoting sustainable forest management, conserving forest carbon stocks, and enhancing carbon stocks.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
