Bhutan is getting ready for REDD+ implementation with the REDD+ Readiness preparation in full swing. The REDD+ Readiness implementation is funded from the Readiness Fund of the Forest Carbon Partnership of World Bank. One of the major component for REDD+ Readiness is the preparation of the REDD+ Strategy. Following the inclusive principle of REDD+, extensive consultations will be carried out across the country with all relevant stakeholder across the country starting from communities to private to corporate to Government agencies. The field offices of the Department of Forests and Park Services (DoFPS) will be carrying out the consultation meeting within their respective areas targeting all relevant stakeholders. The DoFPS has field offices in all the 20 Dzongkhags (districts) of the country and thus easy to cover all parts of Bhutan. Similarly, Tarayana Foundation, A CSO working with rural and marginalized communities will be carrying out consultation with communities within their areas, which are usually far from the district headquarters. All the facilitators for carrying out the workshops were trained during a four days Training workshop in August, 2017. In addition, Social Forestry and Extension Division carried out consultation with local government leaders and CFMGS (Community Forest Management Groups) in Thimphu, Punakha and Wangdue Districts. The workshops which started from Thimphu and Mongar on 5th September, 2017, will continue till first week of October, 2017.
